Well, it's Monday afternoon and WorldCon is now officially over. It's been a hell of a time. I talked on panels, listened to other panels, went out to dinner with some of the publishing world's biggest names, collected a hell of a lot of autographs, and most importantly of all, I learned a lot.
I haven't been in the publishing world all that long, and the truth is that ever since I joined it I haven't felt quite at ease around other authors. On previous occasions at conventions and other events with authors about, I've felt alienated and often insignificant. At WorldCon, for the first time, I started to feel like one of the gang. It probably helps that I've made some friends by now, and that I've started to settle down a bit in these situations. Either way, it meant that I got a lot more enjoyment out of all this than I might have done.
If getting published was my entry into this new world, then WorldCon was my initiation. Either way, I’m very proud.
Now, with the con over, I’m staying on in Melbourne for the next couple of days to see the sights and relax a bit before I go home. In the meantime, here are some pictures I took at the Voyager dinner last night (not be confused with the Voyager party on Friday night).

A nice view down the table at every there. Most of them are authors - you can see Kylie Chan's arm and Stephanie Smith's head in the foreground.

When it came to wine, we made the obvious choice.
